We are pleased to introduce HalioGen Power, a company enabling the world’s decarbonisation by providing a resilient, sustainable and affordable technology to make renewable energy accessible anywhere, anytime, and for anyone.
With four co-founders, Daniel Palme -CEO, Dr Lewis W. Le Fevre - CTO, Dr Thanasis Stergiou - CCO, Dr Andinet Aynalem -CSO, the company has reimagined the traditional redox flow battery by developing a cutting-edge membraneless alternative.
HalioGen Power is one of the 50 selected companies in Cohort 1 and part of the Large-scale Stationary Energy Storage group.
What’s the biggest industry problem that you’re tackling and how?
To keep global warming below 1.5°C – as outlined in the Paris Agreement – global emissions must be reduced by 45% by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. The path forward involves decarbonization strategies and the adoption of renewable energy. However, renewable energy faces the challenge of intermittency—it's not available 24/7 or consistently. Our long-duration batteries solve this issue, enabling renewable energy to be reliable and accessible across industries, cities, and remote locations, making clean energy available anytime, anywhere, and for anyone.
What keeps you awake at night about your startup?
Despite similar technologies being available for more than 20 years, adoption has been slow. HalioGen Power seeks to overcome the biggest barrier: cost. Our technology is truly first-of-its-kind, as we’ve reimagined the traditional flow battery by removing the membrane and utilizing abundant, non-flammable raw materials. This innovation makes our solution a cost-effective, sustainable, and competitive alternative to fossil fuels—something that’s never been done before. With the right partners, we aim to demonstrate that this is the path forward to achieving net zero by 2050.
In your wildest dreams, what would success look like for your company?
Success for HalioGen Power means our batteries becoming the backbone of the world’s energy infrastructure. We want to become the catalyst and enabler for the clean energy transition.
To support our growing network and its startups, we invite potential stakeholders (investors, lead customers, mentors, and supporting partners) to apply here.
