Venture Spotlight Series: Fusebox Energy

We are excited to introduce Fusebox Energy, a company operating in the sustainable energy field and founded by Tarvo Õng, an energy sector and international trade professional with a deep understanding of the industry and a keen ability to identify new opportunities in energy markets. 

Fusebox provides energy companies with their Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and advanced Energy Management Software (EMS) solutions, giving them a competitive edge in energy management.

Fusebox Energy is one of the 50 selected companies in Cohort 1 and part of the Sustainable Energy Production group.

What’s the biggest industry problem that you’re tackling and how? 

The energy system is changing everywhere. Energy companies are struggling to adapt to the changes. They're losing millions because of the volatility and unpredictability of their customer portfolios.
Fusebox Energy offers energy companies software that helps them to better manage their customer portfolios and aggregate their customers' energy assets like the flexibility in electricity consumption, batteries, and renewables into virtual power plants.
Everything from on-site multi-asset site management to their trading desk and from there on to different energy markets can be managed with the Fusebox Energy platform.
It is already used by energy companies from 11 countries.

What keeps you awake at night about your startup?

We have a great technology. I am constantly thinking about how to build trust with new potential customers and then how to help customers in their decision-making. We know it is a strategic decision and we've gone through this more times than they have.
Very often our customers are planning to build the software by themselves. We help them to define their needs in terms of the capabilities of the technology and the integration needs with their existing technology stack. Then they see that the technology is much more complicated than it seemed and it makes sense to buy it in.
We're now working hard to make the onboarding of the customers and building the integrations smoother and faster.

In your wildest dreams, what would success look like for your company?

We're successful if our customers rate our technology high and are happy with it. Then we will achieve our dream to be the dominant SaaS provider in our field.
