Dec 5, 2025 10:44:59 AM

NexusD2xcel Spotlight Series 1200 x 200 (6)

The NEXUSxD2XCEL International Innovation Conference 2025 has just concluded, but we continue to shine the spotlight on the innovators who help make this event possible.

In this Sponsor Spotlight, we feature INESC TEC, a private non-profit research institution dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and technological innovation. With expertise spanning technology development, advanced consulting, and startup pre-incubation, INESC TEC plays a key role in transforming research into real-world impact across industries.

1. In one or two sentences, how would you describe your company and what you do?

INESC TEC is a private non-profit research association with Public Interest status. INESC TEC operates at the interface between academia and industry—from knowledge generation to science-based innovation—across eight scientific domains, including Artificial Intelligence, Power and Energy Systems, and Systems Engineering and Management.

2. What inspired you to support the NEXUSxD2XCEL International Innovation Conference 2025?

Our involvement in the NEXUS Agenda - where we lead work on energy forecasting, green port analytics, and digital tools for decarbonisation - made supporting this conference a natural fit. The NEXUSxD2XCEL Conference brings together the very stakeholders we collaborate with daily, and we see it as an opportunity to showcase collaborative research that directly addresses port and logistics decarbonisation challenges.

3. How do supporting events like this align with your company’s values or mission?

Supporting this event aligns directly with INESC TEC's mission to generate knowledge that creates value for society. Our strategic focus on energy transition, digitalisation, and sustainable systems mirrors the conference themes. We believe research must connect with industry and policy to achieve real-world impact - exactly what this event facilitates.

4. What does it mean for you to take part in an international event hosted in Sines/Portugal?

Taking part in this international event in Sines demonstrates that Portugal is at the forefront of port decarbonisation and green logistics innovation. It provides a platform to promote and disseminate Portuguese research and industry capabilities at the European level, enabling knowledge exchange and technology scaling up between Portuguese R&D institutions and national and international stakeholders.

5. What message would you like to share with the conference participants and community?

The dual digital and green transitions are interconnected opportunities, not separate challenges. By combining data collaboration, intelligent systems, and decarbonisation strategies, we can build logistics chains that are both more efficient and more sustainable. The collaboration between research institutions and industrial and port stakeholders is absolutely essential to turn research into real-world impact.
