We are pleased to interview Efil Bengisu Saygı, Co-founder and CEO of Gelectric, a company providing  IoT-driven solutions for energy efficiency in maritime operations.

With a focus on both technological innovation and sustainability, their goal is to enhance efficiency, compliance, and environmental responsibility in maritime operations.

Gelectric is one of the 50 selected companies in Cohort 1 and part of the Sustainable Freight Transportation group.

What’s the biggest industry problem that you’re tackling and how? 

The biggest problem we’re tackling in the maritime industry is the high carbon emissions and inefficiencies in vessel operations. By using predictive maintenance and real-time data analytics, we help ships reduce fuel consumption, optimize energy use, and lower their carbon footprint, contributing to greater sustainability in the sector.

What keeps you awake at night about your startup?

The constant challenge of staying ahead in a rapidly evolving industry. We need to continuously innovate, ensuring our solutions remain cutting-edge while scaling effectively and helping the sustainable target. Balancing growth with customer satisfaction and operational efficiency is a key focus.

In your wildest dreams, what would success look like for your company?

Success for Gelectric would mean becoming the global leader in maritime data analyze, with our solutions deployed on fleets worldwide, drastically reducing carbon emissions, improving sustainability, and setting a new industry standard for energy-efficient vessel operations, all while enhancing profitability for shipowners.
