Venture Spotlight Series: eyeGauge

Written by D2XCEL | Dec 10, 2024 7:34:53 AM

We are pleased to showcase eyeGgauge, a company dedicated to digitalizing the maritime industry with founders Rodion Denisyuk and Anton Zakharov.

The venture defines a new approach to affordable digitalization. They bring digital innovation to Maritime Transportation, Mining, Energy, and Facility Management,  making any equipment "smart", without changing a thing.

eyeGgauge is one of the 50 selected companies in Cohort 1 and part of the Logistics group.

What’s the biggest industry problem that you’re tackling and how?

Shipowners, charterers, and operators face mounting pressure to reduce fuel consumption, cut emissions, and meet stringent IMO GHG targets while maintaining operational efficiency. However, the industry is lagging in digitalization, with 85% of the world’s fleet not yet equipped with digital monitoring systems or constrained by equipment locked down by OEMs. This leads to inefficiencies, excessive fuel use, and a lack of transparency between shipowners and charterers.
EYEGAUGE offers an innovative, contactless digitalization solution for fleets, regardless of ship type, age, or equipment manufacturer. Our Unified Fleet Data Platform collects and analyzes high-frequency data from onboard systems, providing real-time insights to shipowners and charterers for optimized fleet operations. The platform is fully non-invasive and affordable, allowing shipowners to digitalize their existing fleet without expensive retrofitting.

What keeps you awake at night about your startup?

Adoption and Scalability: One of the biggest concerns is scaling effectively. Even with successful pilots and initial deployments, convincing the maritime industry—a traditionally conservative sector—to adopt new technology across the board can be slow and difficult. Getting commitment from larger fleets after a pilot may take longer than expected.
Cash Flow and Investment: Like many startups, securing steady funding and ensuring a positive cash flow can cause sleepless nights. The balance between investing in R&D, sales, and marketing while ensuring enough runway to scale can be challenging, especially in a niche industry.

In your wildest dreams, what would success look like for your company?

In EYEGAUGE’s wildest dreams, success would mean becoming the go-to platform for maritime data collection and optimization, with widespread adoption across the global fleet. Their system would be essential for performance monitoring, compliance, and sustainability, driving significant reductions in fuel consumption and emissions. They’d be recognized as leaders in smart shipping and predictive analytics, with their platform used for everything from regulatory compliance to predictive maintenance. Long-term success might include an IPO or major acquisition, cementing their influence in the industry’s digital transformation. Ultimately, EYEGAUGE would play a pivotal role in decarbonizing maritime transport.
