We’re proud to share that IPS (International Power Supply), part of the D2XCEL cohort, has been officially selected as a Strategic Project under the European Union’s Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA).

This milestone recognizes EXERON X-BESS, IPS’s flagship energy storage platform, as a key technology in Europe’s path toward climate neutrality, energy resilience, and industrial sovereignty.

What is the Net-Zero Industry Act?

The NZIA is a cornerstone of the EU’s green industrial strategy, designed to accelerate the scale-up of essential clean technologies. Strategic Projects under the Act receive fast-tracked permitting, priority access to public funding, and enhanced political visibility across the bloc.

IPS’s selection reflects a rare distinction: only a small group of projects across Europe have earned this status, with IPS proudly representing Bulgaria, alongside a handful of companies from Germany and Sweden.

“This recognition confirms the European Commission’s confidence in IPS’s technological leadership, sovereign supply chain, and long-term strategic relevance,” said Alexander Rangelov, CEO of IPS. “It also formally positions EXERON as a building block of the EU’s pathway to a net-zero, energy-resilient, and cyber-secure future.”

A First for Europe

IPS is the first company in Europe to establish fully integrated, from-cell-to-system manufacturing of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) — a game-changer in strengthening the continent’s clean tech capabilities.

Under the NZIA, IPS’s work directly contributes to two of the Act’s critical technology areas:

  • Grid technologies

  • Battery manufacturing

This designation elevates IPS from a national champion to a strategic European player, aligning with D2XCEL’s mission to back ventures building transformative, industrial-grade technologies for a resilient future.

What’s Next?

IPS will now work closely with the European Commission and national authorities to scale the deployment of EXERON X-BESS and integrate it across relevant EU programs and instruments.

This recognition marks more than a milestone — it signals a new chapter for IPS as a driving force in Europe’s clean energy transition and industrial resilience.
